Ray Atilano has strategic and operational oversight for academic and industry partnerships in the Office of Research under the VP of Clinical Research. Ray has served as Executive Director of a neuroscience research foundation at St. David’s Medical Center and as Executive Director of Technology Commercialization at The Ohio State University, and in licensing at the Office of Technology Commercialization at The University of Texas, Austin, and as project director to support the DoD, AFRL initiatives. Ray received both his doctorate and Master’s degrees from Kansas State University, and Bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University.
Ray builds strategic medical research and life science collaborations with physicians, academicians and industry collaborators, from pre-pilot studies to clinical trials. From basic research to commercialization of research innovations, Ray has overseen the evaluation of unmet market needs, new venture development, a prototyping ideation lab, proto-coding software shop and contracts teams. Ray is experienced in clinical and regulatory strategy, realizing public/private partnerships, alliances, consortia, fundable business plans, and securing non-dilutive grants and launching early stage start-ups. He finds that building ecosystems, whose ideas benefit stakeholders and create successful collaborations, is truly rewarding.
