Post Stem Cell Transplant Coordinator,
Cancer Care Clinic at
St. David's South Austin Medical Center
Marissa Wain is originally from Washington State, where she began her nursing career at the University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC), where Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) was first performed. While at UWMC, Marissa worked on the Bone Marrow Transplant floor, providing both acute and ICU care to BMT patients. As an inpatient nurse, she worked closely with the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, where clinical trials, such as the CAR T Cell trials, were matched with appropriate patients. Marissa participated in the Comfort Care Cart Project, in which research was conducted to study which interventions were shown to both comfort and inhibit the dying process. Marissa looks forward to participating in clinical trials in Austin, in hopes of opening the door to new treatment options for patients.
